black bear
ᒥᐦᑭᐦᑖᐅᔅᒄ mihkihtaauskw
Looking for a thrilling bear hunt with a little bit of a challenge? A change from a sitting and waiting for a trophy bear to show up at your bait pile? Canadian Wildlife
Adventures, in the Northwest Territories (NWT) is offering 5 full days of exhilarating Spot & Stalk Spring black bear hunts. These hunts are an adrenaline-filled adventure every hunter should experience.
In the NWT it is illegal to bait bears, so this is a spot and stalk hunt. You will be watching for bear by travelling over roads, trails, and even rivers in some of our areas. Spring in the NWT is the ideal time for grabbing the bear you have
been looking for. At this time of the year, bear hides are in prime condition and colour phases are beginning.
Cinnamon, brown, blonde and jet black bears can be found in this area. The NWT holds thousands of square miles of amazing boreal wilderness, offering our guides plenty of bear hunting territory to work with.
The bears are hungry after a long winter sleep and are on the move searching for fresh new vegetation. At this time of year it’s common to see multiple bears a day and on a “bear day” when the conditions are favourable 5-12 bear is normal, sometimes with several stalk attempts. Most bears
are solid black, to black with a white blaze, Our bears will average 5 1/2 – 6 feet squared with the monster boars going 7 feet.
If you want a black bear and the opportunity to get one with us in the NWT, you can take advantage of the significant numbers. We currently boast a 100%
opportunity rate with a quality experience in a must see area of the world!

MUSKOX

NWT Muscox Hunting
This is a pinnacle hunt- you are seeking to successfully bring down one of the ancient prehistoric animals in Canada. There is no better place to hunt the Barren Ground Muskox than on the barrenlands – and no better group than Canadian Wildlife Adventures to help you find your mark. The Barren Ground sub-species are 15% larger in body and horn size than it’s cousin the Greenland Muskox. To say they are massive does not adequately describe this gargantuan beast.
The hide and horns on the Muskox is simply stunning. In August and September you are hunting in the rut season so the Muskox are herded up for breeding. You may be lucky enough to be witnessing the fighting between dominant bulls. This hunt is also very conducive to archery hunting. The areas we hunt are so remote that the Muskox rarely if ever see humans.
This is a spot and stalk hunt, which means you’ll be sitting and glassing areas that have Muskox. We are going to hunt the herds and the single moving bulls. You will be out hunting for 12 hours a day, and this will test your fortitude in more ways than one. This behemoth will not give itself up easily. With long hours travelling and glassing for Muskox, you will need to come prepared mentally for long glassing sits and absolutely
dressed appropriately to stay warm. Staying focused for the duration raises your opportunity of success on a shot opportunity. Your task will test you in many ways – but the reward is spectacular.
“I took a beautiful muskox thanks to Kevin McNeil and his team at Canadian Wildlife Adventures.”
The opportunity for another adventure fell my way in the fall of 2022. This was a chance to hunt muskox in the Northwest Territory of Canada. I had never been there, and was not familiar with the operation with which I booked my hunt. When I arrived, I was greeted with kindness and professionalism. The trip to Aylmer Lake Lodge was
spectacular, and something most people will never experience. My hunt was something I never would believe possible.
I was surrounded by professionals who cared about everything that I was not aware of. My muskox hunt was unique, and something I couldn’t have even dreamed! Life is too short to not experience something like
this! This part of the world is very remote, beautiful and untouched. The fortitude I experienced with his team is something I will cherish for all my life! Thank you, so much for all the memories my friends.

WOLVERINE
ᒫᖨᑮᐦᑲᐧᐦᐋᐦᑫᐤ, kîhkwahâhkêw|sc=Cans
The wolverine is a powerful solitary animal that looks like a small bear, but is actually the biggest member of the weasel family. Individual wolverines often travel 15 miles in a day in search of food.
Wolverines eat a bit of vegetarian fare, like plants and berries, in the summer season, but this does not make up a major part of their diet. These tenacious predators enjoy small prey animals like rabbits and squirrels, but can ramp up their appetite to include large animals like caribou, if they are injured or weak. They are ferocious, and possess razor-sharp teeth and talons.
Taking a wolverine down will most likely be an exercise in staying power and perseverance. Your patience can be rewarded – with the most stunning hide. Expect to travel many miles by snowmobile sleds each day with your guides, looking for fresh Wolverine sign. As their major natural enemy is the wolf, you can see why you have the opportunity to gather one – or two! But you will have to be fast, as wolverines run “like the wind.” Not just speedy on land, they are quite impressive in the water.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
• You must attend the Environment and Natural Resources Office in Yellowknife to purchase your Wildlife certificate, your hunting license and your export permits before heading to Aylmer Lake on Air Tindi.
• Many hunters take this opportunity to take a wolf as well, and you are allowed two. You must have a license and export permit for each of your animals. You are only allowed one wolverine. If you choose to hunt both, your wolves are an additional $1,000 per wolf.

ARCTIC WOLF
ᒪᐦᐃᐦᑲᐣ , mahihkan
The wolf is a signature statement in any trophy room. This is a
pinnacle hunt – you are seeking to successfully hunt one of the
most cunning apex predators in Canada.
The Arctic wolf is the premier wolf in the wolf species. The
hide on these wolves is simply magnificent. Expect to travel
many miles by snowmobile each day with your guides, looking
for fresh wolf sign. When the pack is located it is not uncommon to be able to harvest more than one animal. You
may also decide to get your tag for a wolverine at the same
time.
The areas we hunt are so remote that the wolves rarely if ever see humans. Wolf hunts are tough…maybe the toughest hunt out there. Wolves are cunning and sly – and survives by its wits and stamina. To be successful, you will need a lot of to outthink and outlast them. You biggest asset here will be patience, but anything worthwhile often takes its time.
All of our Lodges lie within the Northwest Territory CLOSED caribou zone. Caribou are a main food source and the wolves follow the caribou herds. This is a spot and stalk hunt, which means you’ll be glassing areas that have central barren-land caribou. The wolves follow the caribou, so when we find the caribou, the wolves will be near. You will be out hunting for ten hours a day. With long hours travelling and glassing for wolves,
you will need to come prepared mentally for long periods of sitting and glassing. You need to ensure you are dressed appropriately to stay warm.
Staying focused for the duration raises your opportunity of success to 75% success on a shot opportunity. The thrill of a success on harvesting a wolf is exhilarating, especially so in the dead of winter.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
• You must attend the Environment and Natural Resources Office in Yellowknife to purchase your Wildlife certificate, your hunting license and your export permits.
• If you plan to harvest 2 wolves you will need 2 tags.
• If you plan to harvest a Wolverine you will need to purchase a tag, and your limit is one.
